China's Silicon Metal Export Prices Decline

Due to exporters lowering prices to boost orders, the mainstream export price of silicon metal 4-4-1 has dropped by $2/MT compared to last weekend, now standing at $1,550–1,590/MT FOB China without tax and $1,600–1,640/MT FOB China. Supported by domestic prices, industry insiders expect mainstream export prices for Chinese silicon metal to stabilize in the coming week.
A trader from Henan quoted silicon metal 4-4-1 at $1,590/MT FOB China without tax this morning but stated that they could sell at no less than $1,580/MT. However, as they did not receive any inquiries this morning, they considered accepting $1,560/MT for shipments this afternoon. The trader disclosed, "At the beginning of the week, I received an inquiry from a client who wanted to purchase at $1,560/MT, but I declined." They added that subsequent inquiries have all been around $1,560/MT. About a week ago, they sold approximately 60 MTs at $1,580/MT. The trader expects that Chinese silicon metal export prices will remain at current levels over the next week. Their typical monthly trading volume is around 1,000 MTs, with January exports projected at approximately 800 MTs, the same as December. They currently hold an inventory of about 2,000 MTs.
A trader from Hunan revealed that they are quoting silicon metal 4-4-1 at $1,560/MT FOB China without tax and are not accepting any counteroffers. They have received no inquiries today and have had three inquiries this week, with the highest bidder only willing to accept a price of no more than $1,550/MT. Their most recent order was sold at $1,570/MT for about 100 MTs in the middle of last week. The trader said, "Although buyers are waiting for lower prices, we have just reduced prices this week, so we will hold steady in the coming week." They expect Chinese silicon metal export prices to remain at current levels over the next week. Their typical monthly trading volume is also about 1,000 MTs, but January exports are projected at only 500 MTs, a 50% reduction compared to December. They currently hold close to 1,000 MTs of inventory.
